Peggy Seibert of Becky & Me Toys received a call from a customer who wanted to assist families during the stay-at-home order. The customer donated $500 to purchase educational games, toys and arts & crafts and Peggy and her daughter Becky coordinated with local school social workers to find families in need.

D'Andre Carter and Heather Bublick, owners of Feast & Imbibe and Soul 'N Smoke have given out 1500 meals to people in need and emergency health workers through community purchased meals. In addition, other local restaurants like Koi Evanston are donating meals that are then distributed to those in need. Customers can purchase a Neighbor Loaf (or as many as they would like), on Hewn's online store, and the loaves get donated to the Hillside Food Pantry in Evanston. This initiative supports the farmers, the millers, the bakery and the people who are in need of food. Over two weeks, they have made almost 1,000 loaves for the Food Pantry. Donate Here
Jennifer's Edibles

Jennifer Eason and William Eason of Jennifer's Edibles have been providing free delivered dinners to Evanston's seniors and those most vulnerable to Covid-19. The restaurant, now closed and solely focused on this effort, have a growing group of volunteers who shop for, prepare, and deliver the meals. The goal is to increase their capacity to serve 100 seniors every day for the next 30 days, many of for whom it's the only meal they eat. Donate Here

Westfield Old Orchard

Westfield Old Orchard did a #FeelGoodFriday last week in the community to support all the great local initiatives.

They donated funds to the following organizations:
-$500 No kid hungry Chicago which equals 5,000 meals
-$1,500 Greater Chicago Food Depository (which services Niles)
-CPK catered lunch for Skokie Police Department ($315). DoorDash wouldn’t wait for the delivery so the CPK GM actually delivered the order on Westfield Old Orchard's behalf #Awesome
-Shake Shack lunch for local ER hospital workers at Skokie Hospital ($300) 

This week they are going to partner with Feast & Imbibe, a local catering company they use for Uncorked events, and are going to be supporting their efforts to feed the local community. Currently Feast & Imbibe is delivering 250 meals/day to seniors and underserved families in our immediate market. Westfield Old Orchard is going to encourage local donations and match any up to $1000.

They are joining forces with the O'Hare Airport team to donate funds to support Columbia College Fashion Students who are currently making masks for people in need. Literally these fashion students are sewing masks from home, disinfecting them and shipping them to healthcare workers.

Westfield Old Orchard sent Shake Shack to our Skokie first responders to say thank you for keeping our community safe. Thank you for everything you do. #westfieldcares
